CHÂTEAU MOULIN

DE LA GRANGÈRE

SAINT-ÉMILION GRAND CRU

2013 Vintage  :

(First organic vintage)

This was a complicated year for the winegrowers around Bordeaux, with delayed ripening, small volumes and unfavourable meteorological conditions in the spring.

At Château Moulin de la Grangère we succeeded in maintaining the health and fruit of the grapes thanks to work carried out by hand in the vineyard (de-budding, trellising, partial leaf thinning, green harvesting), and regular soil tilling.

With a juice that was less dense than in the previous vintages, we adapted our winemaking techniques to produce a fresh, very enticing wine full of red fruits. And because we are demanding about the quality of our wines, we’ve decided to produce a very good Moulin de la Grangère rather than our two wines.

We favoured a 3 to 4 weeks maceration period to accentuate the fruit, but also the extraction of supple, silky tannins.  With 12 months in oak barrels (30% new), to mellow and round out the tannins, our 2013, like its peers, will have average ageing potential.

Tasting Notes:

Although light in colour, this wine offers subtle aromas of red and black fruit, charming touches of spice and discreet but strongly toasted notes. Best appreciated whilst young, by 2018 at the latest.
